Torneo De Candidatos FIDE 2026: Andrey Esipenko (Rusia, 2698)

 

Por último, pero no por ello menos importante, Andrey Esipenko ocupa actualmente el trigésimo tercer puesto en la clasificación FIDE de marzo de 2026, empatado con Bluebaum. Además, debuta en el Torneo de Candidatos, tras clasificarse gracias a su tercer puesto en la Copa del Mundo de 2025.

Esipenko lleva varios años rozando la élite del ajedrez. Tras compartir el Campeonato Europeo Individual de 2022 y con actuaciones consistentes en los principales torneos, finalmente se ha ganado un lugar en el Torneo de Candidatos.

Conocido por su espíritu combativo y sus agudas ideas en la apertura, el joven gran maestro derrotó a Magnus Carlsen en partidas clásicas al inicio de su carrera. Su resiliencia es notable: tras sufrir una de las derrotas más dolorosas de su carrera en semifinales, protagonizó una remontada espectacular el pasado noviembre en Goa, en el crucial encuentro por el tercer puesto.

El enfoque intrépido de Esipenko lo convierte en un rival peligroso en cada ronda. Gracias a su combinación de creatividad, talento táctico, excelente técnica en el final de partida y creciente experiencia, está bien posicionado para llegar lejos en el Torneo de Candidatos de 2026.

Torneo De Candidatos FIDE 2026: Matthias Bluebaum (Alemania, 2698)

 

El gran maestro alemán se ha labrado una sólida reputación como uno de los jugadores más fiables y técnicamente fuertes de Europa. Conocido por su conocimiento enciclopédico de aperturas, su excelente técnica en finales y su serenidad en los torneos, Bluebaum se ha convertido en una figura central del ajedrez alemán y un participante habitual en el circuito internacional de élite.

Dos veces campeón europeo, Bluebaum debuta en el Torneo de Candidatos gracias a su inesperado segundo puesto en el Grand Swiss de 2025, por delante de numerosos rivales consagrados y con mayor Elo. Es el tercer alemán en clasificarse para el Torneo de Candidatos, después de Robert Hübner y Wolfgang Uhlmann.

Ganador o co-ganador de varios torneos abiertos de élite en toda Europa, incluido su propio campeonato nacional, Matthias es también una figura clave en el equipo alemán, consolidándose entre los mejores jugadores alemanes de su generación.

Javokhir Sindarov, uno de los jóvenes jugadores más prometedores de la era moderna, se ha consolidado rápidamente como una figura destacada de la nueva generación.

La clasificación del prodigio uzbeko se logró a través de uno de los caminos más difíciles del ajedrez: ganar la Copa del Mundo de 2025 en Goa, India, una maratón eliminatoria que puso a prueba tanto sus nervios como su versatilidad.

Aún en los inicios de su carrera, el gran maestro uzbeko ya se ha forjado una reputación de juego intrépido y creatividad dinámica, y debutará en el Torneo de Candidatos en Chipre. Torneo De Candidatos FIDE 2026: Anish Giri (Paises Bajos, 2753)

 

Tras clasificarse al ganar el Gran Suizo FIDE 2025 en Samarcanda, Giri participará en el Torneo de Candidatos por tercera vez en su carrera.

Considerado uno de los jugadores de élite más consistentes de la última década, ha sido un habitual entre los mejores grandes maestros del mundo desde su adolescencia y un participante frecuente en el ciclo del Campeonato Mundial, destacando por haber empatado las catorce partidas del Torneo de Candidatos de 2016. En el Torneo de Candidatos 2020-21, luchó por el primer puesto hasta las rondas finales.

Con numerosas victorias en torneos internacionales, Giri ha sido la pieza clave del equipo neerlandés durante muchos años, obteniendo una medalla de bronce en la Olimpiada de Ajedrez de 2014, además de destacadas actuaciones individuales en el primer tablero en otras Olimpiadas y competiciones europeas por equipos.

Actualmente número ocho del mundo, Giri es conocido por su profunda preparación de aperturas, su claridad estratégica y su precisión técnica. Si bien al principio de su carrera se le asociaba a veces con un juego sólido, en los últimos años ha adoptado un enfoque mucho más ambicioso, ofreciendo muchos partidos dinámicos y ofensivos.

Clasificado en el séptimo puesto del ranking mundial, el mejor jugador chino se clasificó como finalista de la Copa del Mundo de Goa 2025. Esta será su primera participación en el Torneo de Candidatos.

Durante muchos años, Wei Yi fue considerado el mayor prodigio del ajedrez desde Magnus Carlsen. El gran maestro chino irrumpió en la escena mundial siendo adolescente, demostrando una brillantez táctica extraordinaria y un juego de ataque intrépido.

Wei aún ostenta el récord de ser el jugador más joven en superar los 2700 puntos Elo, ¡algo que logró con tan solo 15 años!

El gran maestro chino ha protagonizado algunas de las partidas más espectaculares de la era moderna. Una de las favoritas del público, y posiblemente una de las mejores cacerías de reyes de la historia, es su victoria de 2015 sobre el GM Lazaro Bruzon.

Ganador de numerosos torneos de élite y por invitación en China e internacionalmente, Wei Yi también desempeñó un papel clave en el equipo chino que obtuvo la medalla de oro en la Olimpiada de Ajedrez (2014) y en el Campeonato Mundial por Equipos de Ajedrez (2015).

Wei Yi combina un profundo cálculo, creatividad táctica e instintos de ataque intrépidos. Cuando la posición se torna tensa, es capaz de realizar brillantes sacrificios y combinaciones espectaculares. Si el torneo se vuelve intenso y táctico, Wei Yi sería uno de los jugadores más peligrosos del torneo.

Torneo De Candidatos FIDE 2026: Fabiano Caruana (Estados Unidos, 2795)

 

Tras clasificarse al ganar el Circuito FIDE 2024, una competición que premia las actuaciones de élite en torneos, Fabiano participará por quinta vez en el Torneo de Candidatos. Actualmente número tres del mundo según el Elo, Caruana ha sido un referente en la lucha por el título mundial durante más de una década y es reconocido por su profunda preparación de aperturas y su extraordinario cálculo.

El gran maestro estadounidense ganó el Torneo de Candidatos en Berlín (2018), desafiando a Magnus Carlsen en Londres por el Campeonato Mundial, donde finalmente perdió en uno de los encuentros por el campeonato más igualados de la historia.

Otros éxitos en torneos incluyen el Grenke International en 2015, el Norway Chess 2018 y el Tata Steel en 2020. Su victoria más significativa en un torneo la consiguió en 2014, en la Copa Sinquefield, donde obtuvo 8½ de 10 puntos frente a rivales de primer nivel, ¡con un extraordinario inicio de 7/7! También es cinco veces campeón de Estados Unidos, medallista de oro en la Olimpiada de Ajedrez de 2016 y poseedor de varios títulos del Grand Chess Tour.

Como parte de su preparación para el torneo, Fabiano acaba de finalizar dos eventos en San Luis, incluyendo una prometedora puntuación de 7/9 en el Masters de San Luis.

Caruana es ampliamente considerado uno de los jugadores más fuertes del siglo XXI y uno de los aspirantes más formidables al título de Campeón del Mundo. Muchos analistas lo consideran el favorito indiscutible y, si la experiencia cuenta para algo en el Torneo de Candidatos, ¡él tiene de sobra!
